 What is Agriculture? Here's is the simple definition. 

Agriculture is an art and science of producing food, fodder, fiber, fuel, for the well being and survival of humans 
It involves various activities like from cultivation to harvesting of crops, rearing of cattels, etc .















The term Agriculture is derived from latin word "ager " which means "soil" and culture which means 'to cultivate. 

Hence, agriculture can be defined as cultivation of soil for the survival of humans and cattels. 

Humans have been practicing agriculture since ancient times, it is not a new concept or field of work. Its knowledge has been passed on from one generation to another . In ancient times agriculture is done to produce food & fooder for self consumption only and not for selling purpose . They use to grow fruits, vegetables , cereals available in locally for their survival only. 
But, with the passage of time agriculture has changed and lot. Now it is ore business rather then just growing crops and rearing animals for self utilization purpose . A lot of new methods of cultivation and technology ,knowledge has been introduced in this field. Globlisation has also changed it a lot throughout the world, trade and commerce has played significant role in introducing new species of plant crops and animals from their place of origin to different parts of the world. Agriculture has now become an important part of nations economy . 
Agriculture is not just about producing food crops, fooder, fibre, fuel, etc for our survival ,but agriculture is a primary Industry Or sector which provides raw materials for other industries like medical and pharmaceuticals, perfume, dairy, food processing, wood and Furniture
etc, industries. Agriculture sector is the mother of all other sectors.
